Fine Wine & Nonprofit Leadership Series!

Come learn about wine and leadership from local nonprofit professionals in a small group setting perfect for ENGAGING discussion

What you will learn about wine?

  • Enjoy wines you may not know at this fun and informative tasting.  We will explore some of the many wine varieties of the world while evaluating their key components
  • Basic tasting techniques, including smell, taste and putting words to wine
  • Leave with sense of what makes wines different along with a better understanding of what wines you prefer
  • Serving tips and techniques
  • Restaurant tips
Some of the regions we will be visiting during the wine flight are Germany, New Zealand, Australia and Italy to name a few. Light food will be provided.

Who are the nonprofit professionals?

Nonprofit Speaker for 4/13/10

Elaine Laughlin, Senior Program Manager, Foundation Development for WGBH
Elaine Laughlin works closely with WGBH’s senior management and producers to facilitate relationships with foundations, corporations and other funding partners.  She returned to WGBH in 2007 as Senior Program Manager, a position she also held from 2000-2003. From 2003 – 2007, she served the first Director of Institutional Development at TERC, an educational research and development organization with a math/science focus, where she was responsible for all fundraising and communications activities.  She has managed programs, directed marketing efforts, and raised funds for numerous Boston area cultural organizations, including Arts/Boston, the Massachusetts Cultural Alliance, the Freedom Trail Foundation, and the Arlington Center for the Arts, where she served as Executive Director.  She holds a Master’s degree in Communication Research & Planning from Cornell University and a B.A. in English from Wellesley College.

 

Nonprofit Speaker for 5/11/10

Heather Hartshorn, Deputy Director of the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN).

Heather began as the Program Director of MNN in September of 2008.  Prior to joining MNN, Hartshorn held a variety of roles in local nonprofit organizations.  She worked for Massachusetts Municipal Association, the Town of Lexington, the Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts, and Women’s Action for New Directions.  Hartshorn has also lived in Belfast, Northern Ireland working and studying the role of nonprofits in alleviating conflict.  She holds a B.A. from Colby College, an M.A. from Brandeis University, and was a proud member of the first City Year corps.

Host and Moderator for the series:

Mark McCurdy, President and Founder of the Nonprofit Career Coach and Jobs In Nonprofits, a boutique company helping job-seekers and nonprofit organizations fulfill their missions. As an inspiring leader, in-demand speaker, trainer and nonprofit career coach, Mark has helped over 4000 professionals accelerate their nonprofit careers and has also assisted nonprofit organizations in unearthing skilled human capital.

Mark will bring is passion for nonprofits and wine together for a wonderful series of learning and networking.

  • Did their degrees help accelerate their nonprofit leadership?
